Enter CABIN LIFE's 2008 Deck Contest and WIN great prizes!

The contest is rather simple.
  • Send us up to 3 color photos of your deck and a descriptive note (300 words or less) describing what makes your deck so special to you.
  • The winner's deck will be featured in the March 2009 issue of CABIN LIFE magazine.
Entries must be received in the CABIN LIFE office by September 26, 2008

ELIGIBILITY
1.   The 2008 CABIN LIFE Deck Contest is open to individuals who are 18 years of age and over and must be legal U.S. residents or Canadian citizens.

2.   Employees (and their families) of CABIN LIFE magazine/Fladmark Publishing are not eligible.

3.   No purchase necessary to enter or win. Contest void where prohibited by law. Subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

4.   All applicable federal, state and local taxes associated with prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners.


AGREEMENT TO OFFICAL RULES
1.   By entering the contest, the entrants fully agree to these Official Rules and that the decisions of the judges are final and binding.

2.   Prize winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements stated in these Official Rules.


CONTEST ENTRY
1.   Entry materials submitted to the contest become the property of CABIN LIFE magazine/Fladmark Publishing, and will not be returned.

2.   To enter, submit (1) your entry form, (2) no more than three color photographs of your deck (cabin, cottage, lakehome, lodge, camp) taken from various angles to show the layout and structure of your deck, and (3) a note about why you love your deck (no more than one page, 300 words maximum). Either download the entry form or include a cover sheet with your name, address, daytime phone number and e-mail address. Mail entry to CABIN LIFE magazine, CABIN LIFE Deck Contest, 1001 E. 3.   Tell us in a descriptive note (please no more than 300 words) about the uniqueness, design and visual appeal of your deck, and what makes your deck a winner. The note must be titled, typewritten or in legible handprinting and include your name, address, city, state, zip code, daytime and evening phone numbers and e-mail address.

4.   Photos may be submitted in these formats:
  • Color prints made from a negative, slide or digital image at a size of 8"x10".
  • Digital photos must be high-resolution: 300 dpi at a size of 8"x10".
  • We work with jpg and tiff files.
  • We will not accept digitally enhanced photographs.


  • 5.   The photographer's name, mailing address and phone number must be printed on the back of each print. We recommend placing photos between protective cardboard coverings.

    6.   Entry must be received in the CABIN LIFE office by SEPTEMBER 26TH, 2008.

    7.   Sorry, receipt of entries cannot be acknowledged. Entry materials will not be returned.

    8.   CABIN LIFE magazine/Fladmark Publishing takes no responsibility for entries lost, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, postage-due, damaged or late.

    9.   Entry limited to one person per household.

    10.   By entering the contest, the participant grants to CABIN LIFE/Fladmark Publishing unrestricted and exclusive rights to use the photograph(s) and note for any future purpose without compensation and the right to publish the entrant's name in relation to their entry, photograph(s) and note. By entering this contest, the entrant confirms that (1) he/she is the photographer and owns all rights to any photograph(s) he/she entered in this contest and (2) he/she is the author of the note; accordingly, the entrant thereby agrees to compensate CABIN LIFE fully regarding any claims arising out of the use of the photograph(s) or note.


    JUDGING
    1.   Entries will be judged in two parts: (1) 50% of the judging will be based on visual appearance and distinctive features of the deck in the photograph; (2) 50% on the quality of the note (appropriateness/relevance, originality and creativity).

    2.   Winners will be selected by CABIN LIFE's panel of judges, consisting of CABIN LIFE staff and professional experts in design and home improvement. Judges' decisions are final.

    3.   Winners will be chosen by October 30, 2008 and notified by phone or mail by November 3, 2008.

    4.   Winners will be required to sign and return a certificate of eligibility and release/transfer of copyright that must be returned within seven days of notification attempt, or alternate winners may be selected.
